Hello Book Nerd Family,
I’m Brandy Carroll, a proud English teacher making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth at a placement facility in Central New York. My days are dedicated to illuminating young minds and helping them find their path through literature, life, and learning.
Outside the classroom, I’m the founder of the “Book Nerds’ Book Reviews” Facebook group (Happy 5th Birthday!), a community of fellow literary enthusiasts who share a passion for the written word. My love for books isn’t confined to the virtual world; I immerse myself in tales of horror, Gothic mysteries, and the elegance of the Regency and Victorian eras. I also love mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction, YA, and more! The stories transport me to different worlds, offering solace, comfort, and adventure.
My life is shared with my wonderful husband, two cherished dogs, and a cozy home that’s a haven for us all. Evenings are spent wrapped in blankets, indulging in movies, snacks, snuggles, and guilty-pleasure TV. Trashy shows and true crime fascinate us, and this is an excellent way for us to unwind before bed!
My love story with Andy is one for the books. We met in a Facebook group (Books of Horror!), and our friendship grew deeper over time. A leap of faith brought him from Illinois to New York, where we’ve been happily married for three years. Our story is a reminder of the lasting connections that can be forged online. Who knew I’d find my soul mate online?
Beyond my roles as a teacher, wife, dog mom, and reader, I’m also a freelance editor. The written word is my sanctuary, whether I’m teaching, reading, or refining fellow writers’ work. I’ve also begun to dabble in writing my own novel, and you can expect to see my work published soon by Raventhorne Books!
Autumn is my muse, and I cherish time spent with family and friends ALWAYS, but especially during my favorite time of year – spooky season!
Most importantly, though, chocolate and pizza are my weaknesses, just not together! 😅
