Introduction to A Game of Two Worlds- Book 2 Inneshys Continuation of an Epic Tale!

Inneshys is the second book in the series A Game of Two Worlds by Boyd Lee. Inneshys picks up the story of Matthew Kinson, where The Royal Duke left off. The novel exhibits the same lightheartedness as The Royal Duke.

The first book captured my interest enough that I went right on to Inneshys. LitRPG/GameLit and Fantasy fans will love this entry if you couldn’t get enough of book one.

Synopsis of A Game of Two Worlds Inneshys The Duke, The Duchy, and Deeper Dungeon Dives

Who is she, really?
When Alister uncovers a hidden dungeon, Matthew takes a chance to bury the hatchet with his enemy. Proposing a portal network to connect places in both worlds raises some eyebrows as it’s challenging and expensive to do. Still, Dunnishire lost much of its settled areas in wars over the last century.
With the power to cross the country, Matthew envisions a portal network and a network of dreams—a school and an orphanage. Yet, goals require funds, driving him to work to become stronger and wealthier.
This time, trouble finds Matthew, Neera, Alana, and Princess on Earth. Hoping to stay ahead of the wave of problems that follow them, they still run the dungeon to progress and grow their stats and levels, enjoying a nice Duke’s Own hamburger from their favorite tavern.
Should the challenges be too tough, Matt encounters an unexpected twist while visiting a new barony. Confronted with a pivotal choice, he faces the possibility of disrupting the stability he’s starting to find or embarking on a path toward unimaginable wealth and opportunities. Embracing uncertainty, Matthew forges ahead on his journey in A Game of Two Worlds.
What this book is: A fantasy LitRPG/GameLit progression-based storyline. There are grownups in this book who act like grownups. They drink, curse, make bad jokes, and fall in love. What’s not in this book? Sex scenes. Graphic or otherwise. There are plenty of jokes and innuendo about it, however.

Analysis of Writing Style of A Game of Two Worlds Inneshys

“Inneshys” by Boyd Lee exudes a lighthearted feeling to readers. The flow of the story is nicely paced. Fans of fantasy/LitRPG will be submerged in the fictional realm with carefully woven words. Here are some critical elements of the writing style:

  • Vivid Descriptions: Lee delves deeper into the world of Inneshys and Earth. There is a familiarness thanks to the inaugural entry. The world is expanding exponentially, and words paint an in-depth picture for readers’ minds.
  •  Pacing: The book’s pacing is slow at some points but redeems itself through intense scenes. Scenes of fights and battles even out the necessary story-building segments that may sometimes come off as slow.
  •  Character Depth: All the returning characters gain an even greater sense of reality in Inneshys. Matthew, Alana, Delores, Neera, Jessamin, Princess, and the plethora of other characters are fleshed out even more. Some characters, like Alister, are fleshed out more fully.
  •  Immersive Atmosphere: “Inneshys” has a very lighthearted feel. The mixture of Earth realm segments and Inneshys realm segments is balanced nicely.
  •  First Person Perspective: Boyd Lee pens “Inneshys” from Matthew’s perspective. Lending the story a clean, linear time frame.

Character Development in Inneshys

Readers’ should be prepared for expanding character development of existing characters, and there are a few new comers that are fleshed out nicely. The novel doesn’t bog readers’ down with unheard of number of characters and dimensions as some other LitRPG/Fantasy epics. New characters are introduced and fleshed out proficiently, and returning characters feel familiar but new aspects are revealed as well.

Pacing, Plot & Structure of A Game of Two Worlds

Matthew and his crew experience trouble on Earth in this entry. Some dungeon dives occur, but there is the need to make money and get loot for the expansion of Inneshys. With the portal development for Alister, the orphanage and school, as well as Dunnishire needing to make more money is a central theme. The story is captivating and doesn’t stagnate. The climax of the story leaves readers wanting more. At least I was left wanting more.

Themes and Messages in Inneshys

The continuation of Matthew’s story holds the same themes and messages that the first entry did. One major aspect is gaining more money, managing the book store, bringing organization to Inneshys, and dealing with earthly issues as well.

Strengths of Inneshys

  • Compelling Narrative
  • Immersive Writing Style
  • Superb Character Development
  • Reader Familiarity and World Expansion
  • Perfect Transitions from Earth to Inneshys

Weaknesses of Inneshys

I personally didn’t find many weaknesses in “Inneshys”. Sometimes the pace being slower at times, politics of being a Duke, and money conversion segments were a little hard to get through. Other than minor issues the novel still is gripping enough that it doesn’t take away from the experience.

Final Thoughts for A Game of Two Worlds Inneshys

Boyd Lee has done an impeccable job at continuing the story of “A Game of Two Worlds” series. I never felt lost at any time. I easily was vested in the characters already, and also became vested in newcomers. The setting of the story transports you to another dimension and back again through the eyes of Matthew. I highly recommend this book and its predecessor to LitRPG and Fantasy fanatics.
